Castle chapel

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is one of the oldest and most valuable spaces of the castle area. It was built around the mid-14th century and has preserved its unique Gothic form to this day. The importance of the chapel is also underlined by an extraordinary discovery from 1985, when the reliquary of Saint Maurus was found beneath its floor, one of the most valuable goldsmith works in the Czech Republic.

Visitors can admire authentic architecture with a rib vault in the castle chapel, as well as wall paintings with New Testament scenes, which belong among the most valuable of their kind in the Czech context.

Please expect a cooler environment inside the castle chapel and adjust your clothing accordingly.

2. The chateau interiors

The historic interiors of the lower baroque chateau present the era of the 19th century. The exposition is mostly composed of the original mobiliary, which was part of the possession of the last nobel owners of Bečov estate - the Beaufort-Spontin family. The most authentic place of the chateau is the library and the St. Peter´s chapel.
